    With financing from the US State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the West African Research Association (WARA) runs an annual competition for post-doctoral fellowships to promote transatlantic exchange and collaboration. During the summer of this year, the WARA Post-Doctoral Fellowship will fund two to three months of research in West Africa.

    The goals of the fellowship are to: 1) finish or expand upon an earlier project; 2) start a new research project; or 3) increase understanding of a particular topic to improve teaching effectiveness or expand course offerings.

    Eligibility Criteria for WARA Post-doctoral Fellowship 2024

    U.S. citizens who currently hold a Ph.D. and are employed in academia or a related field (such as public health or museology) are eligible to enter this competition. Within the last three years, each applicant must have been connected to a higher education or research institution. It is recommended that candidates speak the African language that is spoken in the area where they plan to conduct research.

    • A maximum of $3,500 stipend and round-trip airfare to a West African nation will be awarded for each fellowship. The West African Research Center (WARC) in Dakar, Senegal, can offer recommendations for housing in the fellow’s selected nation as well as academic contacts and affiliations.

    AmplifyChange provides four different types of grants. Our smallest grants, called Opportunity Grants, support local civil society organizations. Our largest grants, called Partnership Grants, support established groups in their efforts to build the capacity of smaller CSOs and strengthen civil society movements. Funding is accessible during time-limited application windows. We assist CSOs operating in LMICs or low- and middle-income nations.

    Grant Types for AmplifyChange Grants 2024

    • Opportunity Grant: Grant to support SRHR advocacy at a local level. Up to GBP 75,000 total grant amount for 1.5-2 years.
    • Strengthening Grant: support to medium-sized groups seeking to advocate for SRHR beyond their local communities. Up to GBP 200,000 total grant amount for 2-3 years.
    • Network Grant: significant support to networks and coalitions to encourage movement building. Up to GBP 300,000 – GBP 750,000 total grant amount for 2-3 years.

    AmplifyChange welcomes suggestions from the following civil society organizations:

    • Situated in and carrying out a project in one of the nations specified under each award type as being eligible for AmplifyChange.
    • Pursuing advocacy to bring about change in one of our target areas.
    • Concentrating on a few of our top priorities for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

    AmplifyChange is unable to accept suggestions from:

    • Global non-governmental organizations (INGOs) with headquarters in high-income nations (HICs).
    • UN organizations.
    • Researchers or lone activists.
    • Service-oriented organizations that don’t support SRHR advocacy and movement building.

    As lead organizations, your organization’s chances of receiving money are not increased by submitting several applications.     The Wilson Ornithological Society grants research grants in four categories each year. Each has a slightly different focus, and the awards vary in value. All awards also require the recipient to be willing to present the findings of the study as an oral or poster paper at a Wilson Ornithological Society annual meeting during the next five years, as well as to submit a brief biography and a picture of themselves for the webpage.

    Among the grants are:

    • Louis Agassiz Feurtes Grants: Each year, up to two $5,000 grants are given out.
    • Gerald F. Mayfield and George A. Hall Grant: For studies in any field of ornithology, up to four $3,000 grants are given out each year.
    • Paul A. Stewart Grants: Each year, up to four $2,000 awards are given out.

    Eligibility Criteria for Wilson Ornithological Society Research Grants 2024

    To be eligible to receive an award, applicants must be members of the Wilson Ornithological Society.

    Louis Agassiz Fuertes Grants

    All ornithologists are eligible to apply for the most prestigious award given by the Wilson Society, though graduate students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Any study on birds is acceptable. Each year, up to two $5,000 awards are given out.

    George A. Hall / Harold F. Mayfield Grant

    This prize is restricted to non-professionals, including high school students, and is only offered to independent researchers who do not have access to finances and resources available at schools, universities, or governmental institutions. Research on birds of any kind is acceptable. There is a maximum prize of $2000. Previously recognized as the Margaret Morse Nice Honor.

    Wilson Ornithological Society Research Grants

    Each year, up to four $3000 awards for contributions in any field of ornithology are given out. Only master’s student research will be eligible for two of these grants.

    Paul A. Stewart Grants

    Proposals with an emphasis on economic ornithology, or studies of bird movements (based on banding, radio or satellite telemetry, or similar approaches), will be given precedence. Each year, up to four $2000 awards are given out.

    In 2016, the World Cinema Fund opened up a specific funding opportunity for films from sub-Saharan Africa in collaboration with the German Federal Foreign Office. The WCF Africa program will automatically assess all requests for special financing that include initiatives from sub-Saharan Africa.

    The WCF seeks to foster active collaboration between producers, directors, and German partners to assist motion pictures in the WCF regions and nations. German film studios thus have a significant cultural, political, and economic influence on the WCF’s organization.

    Grant for World Cinema Fund (WCF) Africa 2024

    • Funding maximum: 40,000 euros for post-production expenses.
    • The projects that get support should have total manufacturing expenses that fall within the range of 200,000 to 1,400,000 euros.
    • The money has to go toward the film’s post-production in the previously stated areas.

    Eligibility Criteria for World Cinema Fund (WCF) Africa 2024

    Eligible to apply are:

    Film production companies based in sub-Saharan Africa that can attest to their cooperation with a sub-Saharan African director; registered film production companies based in Germany (in the commercial register or registered trade) that can demonstrate a working relationship with a sub-Saharan African director; or registered film production companies from other EU member states, so long as they have a branch or place of business in Germany and can demonstrate a working relationship with a sub-Saharan African director.

    Deadlines and Submission Form for World Cinema Fund (WCF) Africa 2024

    Every year, there are two submission processes.

    • The initial submission procedure deadline is at the end of February or the start of March. Typically, decisions about these submissions are taken during jury meetings that take place towards the end of June or early July.
    • The second round of applications closes in July, and jury sessions to choose the best contributions typically take place in early November.

    Following the corresponding jury meetings, decisions about funding recommendations are made public.

    Application for World Cinema Fund (WCF) Africa 2024

    The online submission form must have the following files (in either English or French) attached:

    • Financial details: The financing plan is provided in euros and, where applicable, the local currency. You may download a sample funding plan (16 KB) here. The names of the participating companies and partners, the manner of financing (funds, own investment, in-kind donations, sales/MG, etc.), and the percentage of each partner’s shares, broken down by country, must all be included in the financing plan. Additionally, please specify which amounts are still available and which have already been secured, along with when you expect a response or decision. The detailed budget is expressed in euros and, if possible, local currency.
    • Contracts and agreements: any verified funding contracts and/or letters of intent from financing partners.
    • Signed business papers, cooperation agreements, and co-production contracts.
    • Transfer of rights: A document or contract that formally gives the producer permission to use the screenplay for film production and transfers the screenwriter’s rights to the producer is known as a transfer of rights. Attaching the statement is not required if the author and producer are the same person.
    • An artistic/visual concept that includes a story premise, editing, casting, locales, mood board, and other elements.
    • A password-protected link to the rough cut that has either French or English subtitles (depending on which language was the original).
