    Google has collaborated with EmployAbility, a nonprofit organization supporting students with disabilities in their educational and career pursuits, to assist university students with disabilities advance their academic aspirations in computer science.

    • Selected students will receive a 7,000 EUR award (or equivalent in local currency) for 2024-2025.

    Eligibility criteria

    To be eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Have a visible or invisible disability (refer to EmployAbility’s approach to disability for details).
    • Must be already enrolled as an undergraduate at a university for the 2023-2024 academic year.
    • Accepted as a student in a Bachelor’s program at an accredited university in EMEA for the 2024-2025 academic year.
    • Studying computer science, computer engineering, informatics, or a related technical field.
    • Demonstrate a strong academic record and a passion for computer science and technology.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible, you:

    • Must belong to UN Global Compact participating companies with an “Active” status.
    • Companies must have joined the UN Global Compact before October 1, 2023.
    • Companies must submit their Communication on Progress (COP) within the reporting timeframe. This is from April 1 to July 31 to maintain Active status. Subsidiaries are eligible to participate if their parent company meets this obligation. It’s recommended to submit the COP by June 1, 2024, to avoid disqualification from the Pioneers application. Failure to report by July 31 will result in disqualification.
    • Changes in COP status after being known as a Local and/or Global SDG Pioneer is likely to affect consideration for the global SDG Pioneer title.

    The MESA Global Academy, in collaboration with the City University of New York and other esteemed university partners, is a cross-disciplinary initiative to foster vital research collaborations and knowledge creation among academics focused on the MENA region, particularly those based in North America.

    Funded by the Carnegie Corporation, the Ellis L. Phillips Foundation, and the Persian Heritage Foundation, the MESA Global Academy offers scholarships to scholars displaced from the MENA region.

    Program Overview of Middle East Studies Association of North America Global Academy Grant

    The MESA Global Academy supports scholars engaged in research on governance, accountability, and the rule of law, as well as those focusing on fairness and economic equality. This initiative welcomes scholars from different humanities and social sciences backgrounds, ranging from comparative literature, history, and Islamic studies to political science, anthropology, economics, and beyond.

    Scholars selected for the Global Academy will participate in research workshops hosted by partner universities, where they will present their work and engage as discussants. They will also attend professional development workshops and are sponsored to participate in a MESA Annual Meeting.

    Areas of emphasis

    • Governance, Accountability, and the Rule of Law: This area will explore opportunities for improving the rule of law and governance reform in the MENA region post-Arab uprisings. Topics include judicial independence, anti-corruption strategies, decentralization, public service equity, law enforcement fairness, and promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
    • Fairness and Economic Equality: This area will look into socio-economic justice issues in a region marked by significant inequality, youth demographics, and unemployment challenges. Topics include constitutional protections for socioeconomic rights, health services, poverty alleviation, labour markets, education access, youth employment, food security, sustainable development, infrastructure investment, and the nexus between sustainable goals and social justice.

    Financial Support

    • Selected scholars receive a $5,000 award covering travel and research expenses.

    To be eligible, you must be a:

    • Middle East Studies scholar displaced from the MENA region and currently based in North America
    • Holders of a PhD or equivalent in social sciences or humanities (graduate students are not eligible)

      • £6,500, £13,000, and £26,000 per year for postgraduate programs
    • The scholarship covers your tuition fees.
    • Additionally, successful applicants will receive a £3,000 living cost bursary for their first year of study.

    Eligibility for the Think Big Scholarships 

    • Applicants must be applying for undergraduate courses, excluding medicine, dentistry, and veterinary science programs.
    • You must be an international student without UK citizenship.
    • You aren’t allowed to receive any other scholarships or funding.
    • If you are pursuing postgraduate studies, you must apply for Social Science and Law courses.
    • You must demonstrate strong academic performance and achievements.
    • You must have overseas fee-paying student status and meet English proficiency requirements.

    How to apply for the Think Big Scholarships 

    The application is done online. To start, you must:

    • First, apply for their desired course at the University of Bristol.
    • Afterward, you can begin the Think Big scholarship application, providing your student ID and personal details in the form.
    • Applicants must answer three questions within a 200-word limit, tailored separately for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
    • Since the application cannot be saved, it must be completed and submitted in one session.
    • The deadline for applying to the University of Bristol Think Big Scholarship 2024 is April 24, 2024, with 22 days remaining as of the current date.
