The Association of Commonwealth Universities Gender Grant are given annually to member universities to support initiatives that increase gender equity and equality within their campuses.
In addition, these grants are for different projects, workshops, and events that focus on:
- Empowering women in leadership roles
- Advocating against sexual harassment and implementing anti-sexual harassment measures
- Supporting women’s participation in scientific fields and research
- Developing effective institutional policies promoting gender equity
- Integrating gender equality into the academic curriculum
In collaboration with the Martha Farrell Foundation, the ACU is offering three additional Gender Grants that specifically target the creation of robust anti-sexual harassment policies and strategies.
These grants leverage the Foundation’s expertise in anti-sexual harassment initiatives. They are open to staff members of ACU member universities in Africa and Asia and include online training along with ongoing support from the Martha Farrell Foundation.

The ACU has over 400 university members across more than 40 countries within the Commonwealth. A significant portion, 70%, of their members are in low and middle-income countries. Additionally, they are actively present in over 50% of the Commonwealth’s large ocean states.

To be eligible, you must be a staff member at an ACU member university.

- There are thirteen grants available, each offering up to GBP 1,000 to assist in covering the expenses associated with organizing projects that promote gender equity and equality.
